It's a story about a boy who rescues an abandoned dog, and then how the dog turns around and rescues him during a house fire. I wrote it a year ago during Camp NaNoWriMo when I wrote several short stories, and then spent quite a bit of time the last month and a half editing it to improve voice and mood. The story is written from a twelve year old boy's perspective and I really wanted to capture how a boy would tell the story of rescuing the dog and of what it would be like to be inside a house on fire. As with all my short stories, I'd love to hear what you think!
With my fourth story going live, my first is no longer a freebie. If you are a teacher or an educator who would like a free copy of A White Crow, send me an email from your school address. I will gladly send you a coupon to get the book free. In return, I just ask for a review of the story, good or bad, whatever you think.
