I'm so happy to announce that my short story has been published on Amazon and Smashwords. You can get it for free by clicking on that download link. And while you're at it, please press that Share link too.
I'm super proud of how this story turned out. It's about a man who's just waking up from a nap in a hammock, finds his flip flops are missing, and when he sees a sparkle of light in the back corner of his yard, just knows it has to be another one of those pixies!
This story has generated a lot of discussion with my beta readers because the man's son doesn't believe in faeries and it's created a dynamic where the man has tried on several occasions to prove they exist. Several of my readers say, "I'd never treat my parent like that!" but they aren't really of an age where they've had to make the decision this son has made and we can only make some guesses as to why he really makes his choice since we only view the son through the father's eyes.
I've packed this story with a lot of symbolism too. A war correspondent's photographer, the main character has a camera that he still carries with him everywhere he goes. A camera can be a symbol of many different things, and in my story, it represents the passage of time as well as bringing things into sharp focus.
